NEWARK
– A Ringwood chiropractor who is charged
criminally with using the Internet to sexually
exploit minors has agreed to the suspension
of his license and to cease practicing until
the Board of Chiropractic Examiners reaches
a final decision on related administrative
charges against him.
In an Administrative Complaint filed by
the Attorney General, Chiropractor Bryan
Bajakian is charged with engaging in a series
of Instant Messenger exchanges in which
he requested that six underage females engage
in various sex acts with him. Bajakian also
planned to meet with two of the victims,
according to the complaint.
In addition, Bajakian’s home computer
allegedly contained an extensive collection
of child pornography images. Bajakian agreed
to suspension of his license at a meeting
of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners on
June 26. At that meeting, the Board entered
an order that immediately suspended the
license.
Bajakian
was indicted in Passaic County on March
18, 2008 on related criminal charges. The
amended indictment is the latest version
of criminal charges dating back to an April
2005 indictment. At the time of the original
indictment, the Board of Chiropractic Examiners
issued an order requiring Bajakian to have
a board-approved monitor present whenever
he treated patients under 18. The state’s
Administrative Complaint alleges that Bajakian
had more than 100 encounters with 10 patients,
all of whom are minors, without the presence
of a board-approved monitor. Two of the
minor patients are adolescent females.
The
state’s Administrative Complaint alleges
that Bajakian is an “exploitative
sexual predator” with “monumentally
poor judgment” whose continued practice
represents an imminent threat to the public
safety. Deputy Attorney General Kevin Jespersen
is representing the state in this matter.
