Trenton,
NJ – Attorney General Anne Milgram
has promoted Daniel W. Foster to be the
next administrator for the Department of
Law & Public Safety. Foster, who was
deputy administrator, succeeds Kimberly
Ricketts, the new acting commissioner of
the Department of Children and Families.
Foster, 58, has worked for the Department
of Law & Public Safety for 20 years,
beginning in the department’s fiscal
management unit. In January 1995, he was
appointed deputy director of Finance and
Facilities Management, with responsibility
for the preparation and planning of budget
documents, capital requests, and spending
plans for fiscal and facilities operations.
In October 1996 he was elevated to director
of Finance and Facilities Management. Former
Attorney General Stuart Rabner appointed
Foster deputy administrator for the department
in January 2007, where he continued to oversee
the department’s finances and facilities.
“During his career at Law & Public
Safety, Dan has proven invaluable for his
exhaustive knowledge, expertise, and good
judgment,” Milgram said. “I
have come to rely on and appreciate his
talents and his experience during my two-and-a-half
years as attorney general and first assistant.”
The
department has an annual budget of approximately
$1 billion with 9,100 employees in ten divisions,
including the State Police, the Division
of Criminal Justice, the Law Division, the
Juvenile Justice Commission, Consumer Affairs,
Civil Rights, Highway Traffic Safety, Alcoholic
Beverage Control, Gaming Enforcement, and
the Racing Commission.
Foster
lives in Medford with his wife MaryBeth.
