Trenton,
NJ -- The 17th Independent Monitor’s
Report on New Jersey State Police compliance
with a federal consent decree on racial profiling
was filed with the U.S. District Court on
Thursday. The report is available on line
at www.nj.gov/oag/monitors.htm.
The report, which was prepared by the Office
of State Police Affairs in the Office of the
Attorney General and approved by the federal
monitors, concludes that compliance in all
areas outlined in the consent decree continue
to be met. Those include training, supervision,
inspections, and management auditing.
“The
State Police continue to function as an organization
that is able to analyze and correct problematic
law enforcement procedures on a real time
basis,” the report concludes. “This
accomplishment is consistent with the goal
of the Consent Decree which is to encourage
the development of a law enforcement organization
that can monitor its activities and adapt
to changes in the legal and criminal justice
environment."
