Ewing, NJ - Members of the
New Jersey State Police Drug Trafficking
Central Unit along with the Mobile Safe
Freight Unit arrested two men and seized
a tractor trailer in which they had hidden
more than $3 million in US currency.
Gildardo Andujo, 24, of
Hawthorne CA and Edward Ramirez, 25, of
Southgate CA were arrested on the afternoon
of June 24th as their tractor trailer traveled
north on I-95 in Ewing, Mercer County.
Detectives searched the
tractor trailer, finding a hidden compartment
in the front of the trailer that contained
more than a 120 bundles of cash. The origins
of this money, which is believed to be the
proceeds from drug transactions, is pending
forfeiture through the New Jersey Office
of the Attorney General. The money was believed
to be headed to California.
The money was seized and
taken to a local Bank of America branch
for an official count. The tractor and trailer,
owned by Rodriguez Trucking of Bell Gardens,
CA was also seized.
Andujo and Ramirez were
charged with Conspiracy and first degree
Money Laundering. They were taken to the
Mercer County Jail in default of $500,000
full cash bail.
