TRENTON –Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal announced that an alleged drug dealer from Trenton was indicted today in connection with the seizure of over 15,000 doses of heroin by the New Jersey State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Monmouth High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.

The Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau today obtained a state grand jury indictment charging Ranall Robinson, 23, of Trenton, N.J., with possession of heroin with intent to distribute (1st degree), possession of heroin (3rd degree), possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school (3rd degree), and possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park (3rd degree).

The New Jersey State Police and the DEA Monmouth HIDTA Task Force (now the DEA Monmouth-Ocean HIDTA Task Force) developed information that heroin was being sold out of the residence where Robinson lived in the 500 block of Hermitage Avenue in Trenton. Robinson was arrested on April 5, 2017, when the cooperating agencies executed a search warrant at the residence and seized a total of 310 bricks of heroin. A “brick” consists of approximately 50 single-dose glassine envelopes of heroin. The seized glassines were stamped with the brands “Monster Energy” and “Ferrari.”

Deputy Attorney General Veronica Vizzard presented the case to the state grand jury for the Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau, under the supervision of Bureau Chief Lauren Scarpa Yfantis and Deputy Bureau Chief Erik Daab.

The first-degree drug charge carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison and a fine of up to $500,000. The third-degree drug charges carry a sentence of three to five years in prison and a fine of up to $35,000 on the possession charge, or up to $150,000 on the other charges.

The indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The indictment was handed up to Superior Court Judge Timothy P. Lydon, who assigned the case to Mercer County, where Robinson will be ordered to appear at a later date for arraignment.

Defense Attorney:
Andrew M. Duclair, Esq., Cherry Hill, N.J.
