Proposed Regulation – Board of Nursing

NEWARK – The Board of Nursing has proposed a new rule which establishes standards for transmission of electronic prescriptions by advanced practice nurses.

The proposed new rule authorizes an advanced practice nurse to transmit an electronic prescription to a pharmacy. The proposed new rule imposes additional requirements when an advanced practice nurse transmits electronic prescriptions for Schedule II, III, IV or V controlled substances.
