State Police Arrest 8 in Connection with Caesars Armed Robbery
Atlantic City, N.J. – After an extensive around-the-clock investigation, New Jersey State Police detectives have arrested a total of eight people allegedly connected to the July 21 armed robbery of Caesars Hotel and Casino, with five of them arrested within two days of the crime.
The near month-long investigation was led by the New Jersey State Police Casino Gaming Bureau, with assistance from the Delaware State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Pleasantville and Atlantic City police departments, and with legal support from the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice.
According to detectives, Izyiah Plummer, 19, of Atlantic City, N.J., and Aaron Evans, 24, of Pleasantville, N.J., allegedly entered Caesars on Monday, July 21, and at 6:22 a.m., robbed employees at gunpoint, during a routine money exchange. Plummer allegedly brandished a handgun during the robbery before both suspects fled the casino with two boxes containing approximately $180,000 cash. Plummer and Evans escaped in a 2011 grey Hyundai Sonata located on Arkansas Avenue. It is alleged that inside the waiting car was driver Nathaniel Greenlee, 21, of Bear, Delaware, and passenger Donovan Jackson, 20, of Wilmington, Delaware.
Just one day after the robbery, detectives arrested Izyiah Plummer, along with Monique Kelly and Dwayne Morgan, both 19 years old from Pleasantville, at Plummer’s residence. Investigators seized a large amount of stolen currency, .38 caliber rounds, and articles of clothing worn by the suspects during the commission of the crime.
On July 23, Lance Rogers, 20, of Atlantic City, and Aaron Evans were arrested by State Police at their residences. According to detectives, Rogers allegedly received stolen currency from Izyiah Plummer. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Evan’s residence and seized more stolen cash and various items connecting him to the robbery.
On August 6, members of the NJSP Casino Gaming Bureau assisted the Delaware State Police with executing a search warrant for Nathaniel Greenlee’s residence in Delaware. When Delaware State Troopers breached the front door, Nathaniel Greenlee’s father, John Greenlee, allegedly shot a Delaware State Trooper. John Greenlee was arrested by Delaware State Police. The trooper survived the shooting and was released from the hospital that day.
On the same day, detectives discovered that Nathaniel Greenlee was employed by a large retail store located in Concord Township, Pa. As a result, Pennsylvania State Police responded to the store and located Greenlee’s Hyundai Sonata, which is believed to have been used during the commission of the crime. Pennsylvania State Troopers apprehended Greenlee in the store and arrested him without incident.
Detectives from the NJSP Casino Gaming Bureau returned to Delaware on August 8 to assist the Delaware State Police with the execution of a search warrant for the residence of Donavon Jackson, 20, of Wilmington, Delaware. Jackson was arrested at his residence without incident. The search of the house resulted in the seizure of cash believed to be a part of the stolen currency and property purchased with proceeds from the crime.
On Wednesday, August 13, Myles Coleman, 23, of Atlantic City, surrendered to detectives at the Casino Operations Unit office in Atlantic City. According to detectives, Evans, Greenlee, and Jackson went to Coleman’s residence immediately after the robbery. Coleman was wanted for obstruction and receiving stolen property.
Detectives from the Casino Gaming Bureau are continuing to actively investigate this robbery. The case will be prosecuted by the Division of Criminal Justice within the Office of the Attorney General.
