Caught With the Goods:
Bridgeton Troopers Arrest Three for a
String of Burglaries and Attempted Burglaries
Pittsgrove Township, N.J. – State Troopers arrested three people, including a father and daughter in connection with five burglaries and attempted burglaries that occurred over a two day period. The investigation was assisted by alert homeowners who reported seeing the subjects and their car in the area of the attempted burglaries.
On Saturday, December 7, a resident on Alvine Road told responding troopers that a man walked up to her back door with a sock on his hand. When the resident confronted the man, he asked if they needed any yard work done. The suspect quickly walked back to his vehicle, which was driven by a second suspect, and departed the area. The alert homeowner provided troopers with a description of the vehicle, along with a license plate number. This report came after several burglaries were reported in that area on the previous day. Troopers learned that the suspect vehicle was rented to Holly Halter, 27, of Millville.
A short time later, troopers responded to a second attempted burglary at a different home. This time, the homeowner told troopers that a gray car occupied by a man and woman was observed driving to the rear of the residence. A man wearing a black sweatshirt with red lettering walked up to the back door, looked into the home, and moved furniture on the deck. The man then walked back to the car and the suspects drove away.
Bridgeton troopers continued the investigation and located the suspect’s vehicle traveling on Newcombtown Road, in Millville. Trooper Justin Green stopped the vehicle and identified the occupants as, Paul Halter, 65, of Millville, Holly Halter, and Joshua Lore, 32, of Millville, who was observed wearing a black sweatshirt with red lettering.
The trooper found jewelry in the car that appeared to be proceeds from the previously reported burglaries. He also found heroin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. All three occupants were arrested and brought to Bridgeton Station for processing.
Joshua Lore, Holly Halter, and Paul Halter were charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail for Lore was set at $100,000. Bail for Holly Halter was set at $75,000. They were lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in default of bail. Paul Halter was released pending a court date.
