How to use this chart: Locate the percentage of sand found in your soil sample on the vertical (sand) axis and draw a line from this percentage parallel to the horizontal (clay) axis. Then, locate the percentage of clay found in your sample on the horizontal (clay) axis and draw a line from this percentage parallel to the vertical (sand) axis. The name of the soil type your are investigating will be found where these two lines intersect.
