William J. Castner, Jr.
Mr. Castner was appointed to the Commission in January 2010 by Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr. An attorney, he is a Director at the law firm of Gibbons P.C., with offices in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
From 2008 to 2010, he served as Chief Counsel to Governor Jon S. Corzine. From 2006 until his appointment as Chief Counsel, Mr. Castner was Executive Director of the New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office, prior to which he was General Counsel and Deputy Executive Director of that office. Mr. Castner also previously worked for the nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services and as an attorney for the Fair Share Housing Center.
In 2005, he served as a member of the State Supreme Court’s Joint Working Group on IOLTA and Financial Institutions and was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Mandatory Continuing Legal Education in 2007.
Mr. Castner graduated magna cum laude from Rowan University, earned his law degree from Rutgers Camden Law School and received a Masters degree from the Eagleton Institute of Politics.
