Statement on the Recent Escalation of Violence in Israel

Trenton, N.J. (May 11, 2021) –

In light of hundreds of rockets that have been fired indiscriminately at Israeli cities by terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad over the past 24 hours, the New Jersey-Israel Commission strongly condemns these attacks and reaffirms our support for the right of the State of Israel to defend itself. These heinous attacks, which have resulted in the death and injury of civilians of various faiths, have no justification, and should cease immediately.

We remain extremely concerned about escalations of violence across the region and are deeply saddened by the loss of all innocent life. Additionally, we are appreciative of ongoing efforts to deescalate tensions, particularly in Jerusalem.

Our friendship with Israel stands strong especially through these difficult days. We hope to see an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to peace.
