AASHTOWare Project Cost Estimation graphic The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) uses the AASHTOWare Project Estimation software module for preparing construction cost estimates.

It is a powerful tool that puts a variety of estimation methodologies at your fingertips. This web-based software is an integral part of the AASHTOWare Projectâ„¢ software. The flexibility and data access provided by a web-based tool allows for additional features that increase the accuracy of your estimates.

The AASHTOWare Project Estimation module can be accessed remotely. For questions regarding access credentials, contact the AASHTOWare Project team.

The current 2007 Pay Item List (pdf 310k) and new 2019 Pay Item List (pdf 284k) (English units only) are available for use in preparing Plans, Specifications, and Engineer's Estimates using either the English 2001 or English 2007 Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction in the AASHTOWare Project Estimation software module. All projects designed after September 1st 2019 will use the English 2019 Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction in the AASHTOWare Project Estimation software module.

Bid Price Report

The Bid Price Report contains Average Weighted prices for all Pay Items used in construction contracts let in the past year. It is used to develop Final Engineer's Construction Estimates and Proposals.

Asphalt Cement and Fuel Price Index

The Asphalt Cement and Fuel Price Index is computed each month from industry sources (beginning August 1990). It is used in preparation of the Asphalt and Fuel Price adjustments, which are entered into the Engineer's Construction Estimates.

The Asphalt and Fuel Price Adjustments for estimating purposes can be calculated with the Fuel and Asphalt Price Adjustment Spreadsheet (xls 65k).

Steel Producer Price Index
The Steel Producer Price Indexes are computed each month from industry sources (beginning January 2022). It is used in preparation of the Steel Price adjustments, which are entered into the Engineer's Construction Estimates. The Steel Price Adjustments for estimating purposes can be calculated with the Steel Price Adjustments spreadsheet.
