Index of All Design Unit (ADU), In-House Design Unit (IDU) and All Personnel Concerned (APC) Memorandums

Shown below is an updated index of ADU, IDU and APC memorandums that had been issued through May 30, 1996 by the Division of Design and ROW for use in the preparation and review of Plans, Specifications and related documents. After May 30, 1996, all changes to baseline documents have been generated through Baseline Document Change Announcements (see BDC96T-001 dated July 24, 1996). The ADU Elimination Task Force, with help from the Subject Matter Experts, reduced the number of memorandums in the previous "Index of Reference Material" dated Nov. 1, 1995 from 710 to 70. The 640 superseded memorandums have been either outdated and eliminated; or updated and metricated and placed into various baseline documents such as the NJDOT Procedures Manual, Standard Specifications, Standard Details or Design Manuals. Only the 70 memorandums listed in the attached Index of ADUs are effective. Portions of these ADUs may contain information that has been included in current baseline documents. Should there be a discrepancy between the ADUs and the baseline documents, the baseline document shall govern. The remaining ADUs will eventually be eliminated when their Subject Matter Experts work them into the appropriate baseline documents or Internal Unit Procedures.

The Memorandum to All Design Units entitled "Index of Reference Material" dated November 1, 1995 is hereby superseded.

Instructions to Designers

Please purge your library of ADUs/ IDUs/ APCs to include only the 70 memorandums listed. They should all fit into a 75mm (3 inch) binder. Designers should also be downloading Baseline Document Change announcements, Quality Improvement Advisories and Corrective Action Notices from the NJDOT Bulletin Board and/or the NJDOT Web Page and updating their library of NJDOT documents accordingly. The web page and/or bulletin board should be checked at least twice a month to guarantee that the designers are using the latest documents.
