Homestead Benefit. This program provides Property Tax relief to eligible homeowners. To qualify, you must meet all the eligibility requirements (see below).
Homestead Benefit packets were mailed over a three-week period beginning in September 2017 (View Expected Delivery Dates).
Eligible homeowners If you received a benefit earlier this year, you will receive an additional credit or check on or about November 1, 2018, due to the State budget recently signed by Governor Phil Murphy.
You do not need to reapply or take any action to receive this additional benefit. Re-visit our website in the fall for more information or to check the status of your benefit.
Eligible seniors and disabled residents can expect to see a property tax reduction of approximately $259. All other eligible homeowners will receive an estimated $202.
Homeowners who earn up to $75,000 and meet all other criteria are eligible for the Homestead Benefit. Senior, blind, and disabled homeowners under 65 who earn as much as $150,000 receive the benefit as well.
This year’s Homestead Benefit is based on the $143.5 million appropriation that was included in the FY 2019 budget signed into law by Governor Phil Murphy in July 2018.
Tenants will not receive rebates of 2015 taxes.
