(TRENTON) – The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA) has announced a grant opportunity to support eligible non-profits glean and distribute excess food from New Jersey farms and seafood producers to help combat food insecurity in the state.
A total of $518,000.00 is available through the Gleaning and Seafood Recovery Support Program for eligible non-profit 501c3 entities that are either gleaning from New Jersey farms or recovering seafood from New Jersey sources. Gleaned and recovered food must be distributed to New Jersey organizations that help feed food insecure residents.
“The Department of Agriculture is excited to continue the Gleaning Grant Program that supports efforts of organizations rescuing food from our farms and seafood producers” said Ed Wengryn NJ Secretary of Agriculture. “These grant monies help programs acquire tools for transportation, washing stations for produce handling and other needed resources to ensure food that would normally be left on our farms can be collected and donated to our emergency feeding community.”
Application materials and additional information are available here. Interested applicants are encouraged to join the NJDA for a program information session, hosted virtually on Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, July 7th at 10AM. To register for the information session, click here.
Completed applications and all required supporting materials must be sent to NJDA.Grants@ag.nj.gov by July 31st, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST. Incomplete and/or late submissions will be determined ineligible.
Applicants who do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of submission are encouraged to contact Billy Conners, NJDA Grants Coordinator, at william.conners@ag.nj.gov.
