Edible History – Ice Cream! August 7, 3 p.m.
Sit in the shade of the ice house to learn a little of the history of this cool sweet treat as you help crank, then consume, a variety of ice cream flavors made from 19th recipes.
Games Galore September 3, 4, 5, 1 - 4 p.m.
We have a historical game to match everyone’s interests and abilities: intellectual, physical, or a little of both, young, old, or in-between. Wrap up the summer this weekend with some fun designed to engage the whole family.
Annual Cornbread Contest September 18, 12:30 - 3 p.m.
Do you bake the best traditional or innovative cornbread? Test your expertise with our judges and your peers. Bring a 9x13 pan (or equivalent) of cornbread and a printed copy of your recipe. All ages and skill levels are invited. Ribbons awarded at 3 p.m.
Not a baker? Be a taster! Peer judging from 1- 2:30 p.m.
Corny Joke Contest September 18, 2:30 - 3 p.m.
Have a guaranteed chuckler? A real groaner? The cornier the joke, the better! Enter up to 3 family friendly jokes in our annual contest judged by audience response, and you might be the one to take home the coveted “Golden Ear” trophy this year.
“Don’t Fence Me In” Reception, October 2, 3 - 4 p.m.
We are focusing on creativity rather than confinement with a display of photographs taken by members of the Crestwood Village Photography Club. Meet the artists at the opening reception in the Cow Barn on Sunday afternoon.
Photos will be on display daily, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., through Oct. 30th.
A (modest) Barn Raising October 15, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Position the sill, assemble and raise the bents, and right before your eyes a 10x12 ft. timber frame barn is born. There is a job for everyone regardless of skill or size. Experience the pride and joy of communal effort as you help erect our scaled barn model.
Currier and Ives Style Selfies November 12, 13, 19, 20, 1- 4 p.m.
Back by popular demand! We proved the decorative sleigh and a few 19th c. style fashion accessories; you compose and photograph your own historically themed image against the backdrop of holly trees at Historic Walnford. Amateur photographers only.
