Due to increased security, ALL visitors to the Office of Emergency Medical Services MUST have a scheduled appointment with OEMS staff. No "walk-ins" will be permitted. Created in 1967, The New Jersey Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) was the first office of its kind in the United States. OEMS is part of the department's Division of Public Health Infrastructure, Laboratories, & Emergency Preparedness (PHILEP).
OEMS maintains the certification of more than 26,000 Emergency Medical Technician-Basics (EMT-B's) and 1,700 Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedics (EMT-P's) as well as the provider licensure of mobility assistance vehicles, ambulances, mobile intensive care units, specialty care transport units and air medical units totaling more than 4,500 vehicles.
Security Notice :
All OEMS staff carry State of New Jersey picture identification cards. If you or your service are questioned or stopped by someone claiming to be an OEMS employee and you do not know that person, ask to see his/her state-issued ID card. If you have any further questions after seeing the ID card, please call OEMS for confirmation of the person's identity.
