DCA RIMS is designed to work on a Personal Computer using Windows – not a Macintosh. It is a web-based system and will run under either Internet Explorer or Firefox browser. DCA RIMS is accessed two ways - RIMS Online is available to internal DCA users and public users through the NJ Portal. The "Back Office" system is available only to DCA Staff on site at DCA Headquarters.
This Help System is designed to answer common questions about using the system. If you have questions that aren't answered here, contact the RIMS Help Desk (www.formsite.com/dcanet/RIMSHelp).
The system will "time out" after 30 minutes of inactivity, and all unsaved input will be lost. Also, if your computer system or internet connection experiences an interruption, any unsaved input will be lost. The best way to be sure you won't lose data is to Save your work.
DCA Fire Safety, Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement (BFCE) procedures in DCA RIMS are “Registered Services” – meaning that you must be a DCA RIMS registered user to use the services. See Registering as a DCA RIMS User. The exception is the Certificate of Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Alarm and Portable Fire Extinguisher Compliance (CSDCMAC) Certification, which is a Non-Registered Service.
DCA Codes and Standards Bureau of Housing Inspection (BHI) procedures in DCA RIMS may be “Registered Services” or “Non-Registered Services” – meaning that you may register as a RIMS user to use BHI services, but it is not mandatory. BHI recommends that you register as a RIMS user, because you will be able to track all your interactions with the Bureau, such as property registrations, payments, etc. See Registering as a DCA RIMS User.
