Department of Community Affairs Awards $200,000 Small Cities Grant to Lower Township, Cape May County

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Susan Bass Levin today announced a $200,000 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant to benefit Lower Township. 

“The revitalization of our communities is an important element of a coordinated smart growth plan for New Jersey,” Commissioner Levin said. “This grant will help make communities more attractive and livable by creating employment opportunities for low- and moderate-income households, while preserving the environmental integrity of the region.”

Lower Township will use its grant to assist homeowners residing in the North Cape May section of the township with housing rehabilitation assistance. 

DCA’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program funds economic development, community revitalization and public facilities projects.  The projects are designed to benefit people of low and moderate income, to address local redevelopment strategies, and to address emergency needs for which no other funding is available.  Small Cities Grants are funded through DCA’s Division of Community Resources.


Department of Community Affairs Awards $252,000 Small Cities Grant to Middle Township, Cape May County

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Susan Bass Levin today announced a $252,500 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant to benefit Middle Township. 

“The revitalization of our communities is an important element of a coordinated smart growth plan for New Jersey,” Commissioner Levin said. “This grant will help make communities more attractive and livable by creating employment opportunities for low- and moderate-income households, while preserving the environmental integrity of the region.”

Middle Township will use its grant to assist homeowners residing in the Whitesboro section of the township with sanitary sewer connection fees and to cap existing on site water-waste systems.
