Funds To Benefit Counties and Municipalities Across the State
|
TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Commissioner Joseph Doria today announced the award of over $8.2 million in Small Cities Grants. The 27 Grants will benefit four counties and 20 municipalities across the state.
“Governor Corzine is committed to revitalizing our communities and enhancing the quality of life for New Jersey residents,” said Commissioner Doria. “These grants will create opportunities for senior citizens and those with disabilities and make communities more attractive and livable.”
The Small Cities grants will be used for such things as housing rehabilitation improvements to public facilities which directly benefit senior citizens and people with disabilities.
DCA’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program funds economic development, community revitalization and public facilities projects. The projects are designed to benefit people of low and moderate income, to address local redevelopment strategies, and to address emergency needs for which no other funding is available. Funding for Small Cities Grants is provided by the federal government and administered through DCA’s Division of Community Resources.
