Interested Individuals Must Submit Completed Application to DCA by August 30

TRENTON, NJ – The Christie Administration today announced that, as required by existing law, it is seeking individuals to fill vacancies on the Roosevelt Borough Council.

The Borough of Roosevelt, located in Monmouth County, presently has three vacancies on its six-member Borough Council.  As the Borough Council presently lacks a quorum to conduct business, state statute (N.J.S.A. 40A:16-9) grants the Governor the sole power and responsibility to appoint the successors.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Division of Local Government Services, on behalf of the Governor, is collecting the applications. All applicants must be Roosevelt Borough residents and registered to vote in the Borough.  Applicants must consent to a background check with respect to criminal history, credit history, judgments and driving record.

Individuals interested in being appointed to the Roosevelt Borough Council should electronically submit a brief letter of interest, resume, completed questionnaire and background check authorization no later than the close of business Wednesday August 30, 2017 to dlgs@dca.nj.gov with “Roosevelt Borough Council Vacancy” in the subject heading.

Further information, along with the questionnaire and background check authorization form, can be found on the Division’s website at http://www.nj.gov/dca/divisions/dlgs/resources/misc_publications.html

Prospective applicants may contact the Division with any questions at dlgs@dca.nj.gov with the subject heading “Roosevelt Borough Questions” or by contacting Paul Urbish at 609-292-6110. The letters of interest and resumes of those individuals appointed to the Borough Council are subject to public disclosure.

The Division of Local Government Services works with local governments throughout the state to ensure their fiscal integrity and to support their efforts to comply with state laws and regulations.
