On August 11, 2007, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) invites you to celebrate the sixth annual National Marina Day at Forked River State Marina, Leonardo State Marina and Liberty Landing Marina.
Whether cruising, fishing, sailing or water-skiing, the boaters of New Jersey depend upon local marinas to serve as family-friendly gateways to the boating experience and as stewards of the environment.
During the past year, Forked River State Marina was recognized as a New Jersey Clean Marina. This facility has successfully demonstrated a commitment to protecting water quality and coastal resources by preventing and reducing Non-Point Source of pollution and promoting responsible boating. Leonardo State Marina also pledged to achieve this prestigious certification within the year.
Seeking relief from the summer heat, thousands of boaters use the waters of New Jersey’s rivers, bays, lakes and seashores to cool off. Now, more then ever, Americans need clean, safe and relaxing locations to spend their leisure time. National Marina Day reminds our customers and our community that New Jersey State Marinas are environmentally friendly destinations that are perfect for family and friends to enjoy.
Here in New Jersey, marinas are strong, vibrant communities united by a shared passion for the water. The state’s marinas provide an unmatched combination of infrastructure, products, and services that help those seeking recreation on the water to maximize their time safely and efficiently.
New Jersey State Marinas are motivated to care for the fish, birds and other wildlife that make marinas and wetlands their home. The DEP actively encourages the marinas to protect the surrounding waterways not only for the environment of this generation, but for generations to come.
National Marina Day is celebrated in conjunction with the Association of Marina Industries in Washington, DC. |
