Volunteers in Parks Program

The New Jersey Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program was created to afford citizens the unique opportunity to participate in the stewardship of the State's natural and historic resources that have been entrusted to the State Park Service. The VIP Program is comprised of individual volunteers and volunteer organizations. Applications for individual or organization volunteers can be downloaded by clicking on the links below. Volunteers enhance the experience of our visitors in the areas of education, interpretation, preservation, maintenance and outdoor recreation.

People volunteer for a number of reasons:

To learn more about the history and natural resources of our State.
To gain experience and earn college credit through a high school or college co-op;program in academic areas such as park management, natural resources;management, history and law enforcement.
To spend time with family by organizing a family volunteer project.
To camp at a State Park Service campground free of charge while providing public information and assistance to campers and performing light maintenance.
To provide community service and enhance a college application.
To meet new people and become a valuable member of our team.
To have fun!

Volunteers are valuable in assisting the NJ State Park Service staff in maintaining the parks and offering programs to the public. Invest in your parks. Join the Volunteers-In-Parks program.

clearing woodland trails
planting trees and shrubs
participating in living history events
landscaping and gardening in colonial and Victorian gardens
talking to visitors
greeting students
helping with nature walks, educational programs and events
assisting in the office

Then maybe you should consider becoming a Park Volunteer. Just contact any State Park Service office and let the staff know that you want to become a volunteer.
