Business Interruption Insurance Summary

The Department of Banking and Insurance created the one-page summary below related to Business Interruption Coverage (Commercial Property/Business Income) after soliciting stakeholder feedback, in accordance with P.L.2021, c.98 (“Summary”).  Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 17:29AA-33 and 34, insurers are required to provide the Summary to any potential purchaser of, or any policyholder seeking renewal of, a policy that provides coverage for the loss of use and occupancy of a commercial property and business interruption in this State with the application for the policy or renewal.  Insurers are required to use this Summary and cannot deviate from this Summary.  Because insurers will use the same Summary developed by the Department with stakeholder input, insurers should not file the Summary with the Department.
