Notice to Policyholders of Shelby Casualty Insurance Company

Shelby Casualty Insurance Company will be liquidated according to an Order of a Texas District Court. As of December 31, 2005, Shelby Casualty Insurance Company wrote approximately 11,000 homeowners’ policies, 1,200 renters’ policies, 3,000 fire policies and 3,000 condominium policies in New Jersey. All policies will be terminated effective 12:01 a.m. CST on August 24, 2006.  Policyholders of this company should immediately seek replacement coverage as of that date by contacting your agent. Claims by and against policyholders for these covered lines will be paid to a maximum of $300,000 by the New Jersey Property-Liability Insurance Guaranty Association (PLIGA), including unearned premium claims. PLIGA has just begun the process of obtaining claim files and pending lawsuits are stayed for 120 days in accordance with New Jersey law. Claimants may contact PLIGA by e-mail at mail@njguaranty.org.
