TOMS RIVER – Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Ken Kobylowski on Tuesday spoke to a group of senior citizens at Toms River East High School about life insurance, reverse mortgages annuities, and long term care, and encouraged them to ask questions and inform themselves before they purchase such products.
Commissioner Kobylowski addressed the group as part of the Department’s ongoing Senior Financial Literacy Program. Last May, the Department began conducting financial literacy programs for senior citizens that cover such topics as life insurance, annuities, long term care, and reverse mortgages.
The program, designed by the Department specifically for senior citizens, complements the Department’s ongoing financial literacy outreach to high school students, which covers personal finance, the importance of saving, use of credit cards, social media and identity theft. |

The program was hosted by the Seaside Park Board of Education, Community Education, which generally conducts meeting, seminars and programs at the Seaside Park Elementary School. The Financial Literacy program was held at Toms River East High School because the Seaside Park Elementary School was damaged in Superstorm Sandy. |
