WEST WINDSOR —
Continuing the Department of Banking and Insurance’s ongoing financial literacy program, Banking Division Acting Director Patrick Mullen spoke to Mercer County Community College students and stressed the importance of personal budgeting and saving money.
Acting Director Mullen spoke to a group of about 40 students on July 18 and told them that understanding standing such basic concepts as a balanced personal budget and saving regularly was the key to their financial success.
The event was part of the Department’s Financial Literacy program for high school and college students. For the last seven years, the Department has spoken to thousands of students in schools across the State about topics including basic personal finance, the importance of credit and how to manage credit cards.
Last year the Department began a Financial Literacy Program for senior citizens that covers topics such as life insurance, reverse mortgages, annuities, long term care, and mortgage refinancing. |
