English Language Learners
In addition to the below resources, the Department has gathered a list of digital resources for content areas, including ESL, from local school districts in NJ, as well as WIDA resources, and examples from other states. Be certain to follow your district’s instructional plan and use these resources to supplement what your local district requires. Teachers should refer to their district’s instructional plan regarding any requirements on time (e.g. a period of class) during remote learning. Also, as students and teachers may be in a non-asynchronous learning environment, consider having ESL teachers “co-teach” in content area online classrooms, where applicable, and/or record lesson plans for students to access as their learning environment permits.
