Office of the Secretary of Higher Education

Mental Health Community Provider Partnerships and Professional Development Grant

The Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) has awarded nearly $16 million in Mental Health Community Provider Partnerships and Professional Development Grant funding to New Jersey institutions of higher education to bolster access to and availability of mental health supports and resources for postsecondary students.

As part of the Murphy Administration's commitment to addressing the youth mental health crisis, the grants allocated through the state's Fiscal Year 2023 budget using federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding have been awarded to 44 public and public-mission independent institutions of higher education that receive State operating aid.

To help to increase institutions' capacity to meet student mental health needs, $15 million was awarded to eligible institutions for the creation of community provider partnerships with local, state, national, or international organizations delivering evidence-based services. The remaining $1 million will support professional development opportunities for faculty and staff with a focus on building multicultural competencies and promoting effective interactions and engagement with diverse student populations.

Please be advised final grants have been awarded, and the application period for this program is closed.
