Network Operations & System Integration Management
NOSI maintains 122 systems and devices within the Network Computer Center, 270 router connected sites, provides network connectivity, telecommunications, and video conferencing support for 20,000+ users and 80 extranet partners, provides network services and system integration management for security, authentication, Internet access, directory, messaging, discussion forums, calendar, web, telnet, ftp, file, print and 3-tier client applications.
The unit also provides on-going technical assistance for all DHS divisions and agencies as well as for many extranet partners.
Facility Operations:
- Operates the Office of Information Systems’ facilities operations for five communication hub sites, one computer center and six co-location sites, and coordinates facility activities for the State’s Office of Technology (OIT)’s Hub and SAC facilities.
- Work with Security Operations in creating a Department wide Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Deployment of desktop and laptop computers, printers, switches and other network devices.
- Backup servers and network infrastructure configurations.
- Maintain the computer and network inventory.
Messaging and Calendaring Operations:
- Messaging solution hardware, operating system & application support.
- Calendar solution hardware, operating system & application support.
- Messaging & Calendar storage management.
Security Operations:
- Review, plan and implement a security framework to address information technology security requirements based on Federal and State laws.
- Work with the Administrative Unit to create IT Policies and Letter of Instructions to address security requirements.
- Risk Management Plan.
- Work with Facility Operations in creating a Department wide Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Provide security tools to IT staff.
- Work with all units and divisions to establish security standards.
- Messaging solution hardware, operating system & application support.
Telecommunications & Video Support Operations:
- Processes and coordinates all Telecom orders for moves, changes, and additions of digital and analog telecommunication services department-wide
- Manages the MACSTAR ISDN telephone features programming system.
- Manages the assignment, distribution, and support for pagers in DHS-CO and cell phones department-wide.
- Oversees network of Telecom Coordinators at all divisions and institutions.
- Provides technical assistance for all aspects of telecommunications wiring, physical plant layouts, and operations.
- Coordinates PBX yearly maintenance contracts.
- Design and manage the Video Conferencing network.
- Tier 2 Service Desk support for Telecommunications and Video Conferencing.
Wide Area Network Operations:
WAN planning & designing
WAN device management (routers, switches and hubs)
WAN data communications infrastructure management (routing configurations, network security, and firewalls.
WAN related Extranet and Security solutions & Support
Central Office local area network support.
- Local Area Network (LAN) interface and connectivity planning.
Windows Networking Services and Computer Operations:
- All Windows operating system/server operations support.
- Windows server storage management support.
- Windows & Active Directory network operating system management.
- Windows based system security management.
- Windows web operations support.
- Windows related Extranet and Security solutions & Support.
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) support.
- Windows Server & PC Inventory management.
- Deployment of mobile devices.
- Central Office desktop and laptop computing support & imaging.
- Planning and management of the Windows 2000 network, PC and server environments.
