What cookies are and why you need them:

The myNewJersey web site uses a "cookie" to keep your session separate from those of other people while you're logged in.

The cookie used by myNewJersey is a "session" cookie, which is not stored on your computer's drive. It is only present in your web browser's memory while the browser is running, and is discarded when you close all of your browser windows.

The cookie contains only an encrypted session key -- no information that can identify you or your computer to outside users. The cookie isn't sent to any servers elsewhere on the Internet.

If your browser is not set to accept cookies, or not set to accept them from the myNewJersey web site, you won't be able to log in, reset your password, or interact in other ways with your personalized myNewJersey web site. However, you'll still be able to anonymously browse all of the non-personalized information on New Jersey's other web pages.

How to enable cookies:

• For Firefox browsers, click Edit, Preferences, Privacy, Cookies, and either one of the following options:
  • check "Allow sites to set Cookies"; check "For the originating site only" if you wish, and click Close, or
  • leave "Allow sites to set Cookies" unchecked, click Exceptions, enter https://portal01.state.nj.us in the "Address of web site" box, click Allow, click Close, click Close
• For Internet Explorer 6,
  1. Click Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, and either one of the following options:
     • Put the privacy setting at Medium High or lower, or
     • Put the privacy setting at High, click Edit, enter https://portal01.state.nj.us in the "Address of Web site" box, click Allow, and click OK
  2. Click Apply and OK.
