Plenary Sessions:

Bias Reporting, Discrimination and Community Outreach: An overview of the updated bias incidents reporting system and the Law Against Discrimination (LAD) in New Jersey. We will examine how chaplains can play a vital role in supporting law enforcement when incidents take place within our communities.

Resiliency for Law Enforcement: An introduction of New Jersey’s resiliency training for law enforcement. The aim of the program is to improve law enforcement officers’ well-being by teaching them how to identify stressors and respond appropriately following a traumatic event or triggering incident. We will examine how chaplains may be integrated into resiliency efforts.

Workshop Sessions:

Elder Abuse Awareness: A basic overview of scams and schemes that our elders, who are some of our most vulnerable members in our society, fall victim to, and what resources are available at the State level through our Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (OIFP).

Exploring Chaplaincy in Other Settings: A panel discussion exploring other paths of chaplaincy service (i.e., corrections, disaster relief, hospital, military/veterans).

Nuts & Bolts of Police Chaplains Program: A basic overview of the fundamentals in starting and sustaining a police chaplains program at the local law enforcement level.

Recognizing and Preventing Threats in Our Communities: An interactive session on how police and community leaders can work together to recognize and prevent potential threats of extreme violence to keep communities safe.
