  Nuong Nobyembre 2018, ang Pamahalaan ng New Jersey ay nagpalabas ng bagong patakaran para maging matibay ang pagtitiwala sa taga pagpasunod ng batas at ng kumunidad ng Imigrante. Ang patakaran ay naglilimita sa kung anong uri ng pagtulong ng pamahalaan ng New Jersey at lokal pulis opsisyal na maaari nilang ibigay sa pederal na awtoridad sa imigrasyon, kasama ang ICE.

Halimbawa,sang ayon bagong patakaran, ang pulis ng New Jersey ay hindi pwedeng manghinto, kumausap, arestuhin, kapakapan o pigilan ang isang tao dahil lang na naisip lang na baka wala itong dokumento. Dagdag pa dito ang opisyal ng pulis ay hindi pwedeng magtanong sa isang tao
ng kanyang estado nararapat lang ito kung may kaugnayan sa pag iimbistiga sa isang krimen.

Ang isa sa dahilan ng bagong patakaran ay para masigurado na lahat ng residente ng New Jersey, kasama pati imigrante, ay madama nila na sila ay walang dapat ikabahala sa pakikisalamuha sa Pamahalaan ng New Jersey at lokal na opisyal ng pulisya.
