Agricultural Chemistry

Through registration, sampling and testing of products, the program aims to insure the quality of feeds, fertilizers, and limes in order to promote crop yield and animal health.  In addition, the program monitors for adulterants in animal feeds and waste materials labeled as fertilizer.

Enforcement

The Division of Marketing and Development is responsible for enforcement of the following laws:

New Jersey Commercial Feed Law

New Jersey Fertilizer and Soil Conditioner Law

New Jersey Agricultural Liming Materials Act

Services

The Division also provides field inspection, sampling and laboratory analysis of animal feed, fertilizers and liming material sold in New Jersey.  These analyses, coupled with enforcement actions against producers of mislabeled or substandard products, enable the division to protect crop yields and promote animal growth.  Label or registration violations found during field inspections and analyses result in those items being removed from sale and, in some cases, fines levied against manufacturers and refunds to buyers.
