white-cedar Restoration Methodology - Fence Line
The cut line on these 3 photos is located in the center.
Flag
or paint the perimeter before you begin cutting the
fence line. This will assist you in keeping the lines
as straight as possible, reducing the amount time and
cutting it may take.
The fence line is usually cut approximately 6 feet wide.
The wire is then strung in the middle of the cut to allow
3 foot access on each side. Vegetation is cut as low to
the ground as possible to keep the bottom wire clear.
This prevents arcing, keeps the fence at optimal power
and reduces the chance of tripping when maintaining the
fence.
When the cutting of the fence line is finished measure
the lineal distance and multiply it the number of strands
you want the fence to be. This will help you order the
correct amount of wire. Some suppliers sell wire in rolls
of 4,000 feet. The type of fence you choose will depend
on economics, fence component preference and anticipated
time dedicated to maintenance.
