New Jersey recognizes that untreated substance abuse and mental illness have a significant fiscal and human impact on government, individuals and families. The Council annually submits a Comprehensive Statewide Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Master Plan, inclusive of a state government component, to the governor and the state legislature.
The Plan shall incorporate all existing statewide efforts, including state departments, agencies and providers in regard to treatment, prevention, research, education, and public awareness. The Plan shall also provide recommendations for efforts moving forward, with an emphasis on Prevention Unification.
Please see Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA) Notice of Proposal for readoption of regulations, posted for public comment. The public comment period is July 7, 2014 through September 5, 2014. Comments can be provided via email or snail mail. Please see Notice of Proposal document for details.
