GIS Mapping

The Geographic Information System (GIS) and associated statewide data layers are the cornerstone of a Next Generation 911 (NG911) system. Geographic data, including address points, road centerlines, and emergency service boundaries, are joint developed and maintained by County and State authorities. All location information required to support NG911 call routing will be managed in the statewide geodatabase; therefore it is vital that this information is accurate, authoritative, standardized, current, and readily available. Policies shall be developed to govern all aspects of the GIS system (people, processes, data, and systems) and guide consistency in how standards are applied across jurisdictions. Accurate GIS data is required to power NG911. Without it, NG911 will not be realized.
