The board's primary purpose includes developing, administering, and overseeing programs in consultation with the Department of Agriculture on topics related to organic and regenerative farming. The Board reports to the State Board of Agriculture at its monthly meetings along with other industry reports. In 2024, the Governor appointed the first members of the Organic and Regenerative Farming Board of New Jersey.

Meetings are held in January, April, September, and November, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Board. The yearly meeting schedule shall be proposed at the Annual Meeting for review and approval. The Annual Meeting shall be the first Quarterly meeting of the year. The purpose of this meeting is to set yearly priorities, consider member reappointments, elect officers, and conduct any other necessary business.
