Want to become an Assistant Deputy Public Defender or Assistant Deputy Public Advocate?

NJOPD is currently accepting applications for immediate openings as well as for our Fall 2026 class of new attorneys. We welcome applications from candidates at all experience levels.*

     * ADPD 1 / ADPA 3 applicants – entry level and early-career attorneys

       APPD 2 / ADPA 2 applicants - minimum 5 years of experience practicing law

       ADPD 3 / ADPA 1 applicants - minimum 10 years of experience practicing law

Fall 2026 applicants – To receive priority consideration, apply by September 15, 2025. Applications submitted after this date will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note: All applicants must apply online, even if they submit materials through OCI or career fairs.
