OPD Disappointed as Governor Murphy Conditionally Vetoes Sentencing Reform Bill

Unfortunately, as expected, the Governor issued a conditional veto of the sentencing reform bill eliminating mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent offenses. He did so because he and the Attorney General oppose the inclusion of official misconduct in the bill. On the positive side, the AG simultaneously issued a directive to prosecutors designed to end mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenses.
