The Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair is open to everyone to attend.
It is a great event for teachers, students and their families. Activities include military encampments and displays covering the Revolutionary, Civil, WWI and WWII time periods, period music and crafts, living history demonstrations, historic character portrayals and exhibits by historical societies and museums. New Jersey State Historic Sites, most of which offer
free school tours and programs, will be available with information.
This is a unique experience for teachers to meet numerous experts in vast
fields related to the history of New Jersey, receive information on historic
sites and organizations, and see reenactments of crucial events from the
state's past.
The Office of Historic Sites is again offering three professional
development hours to elementary school and secondary school social studies
teachers that participate in the fair. No registration is required.
Professional development documentation certificates may be obtained at the
Division of Parks & Forestry exhibit booth during the fair.
It is the responsibility of districts, schools or individuals to determine
the suitability of this program with the district or school's Professional
Development Plan.
