Observing Memorial Day

A Day of Solemn Reflection and Remembrance

Esther Chucaralao, Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, served as Master of Ceremonies in our annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Governor Mikie Sherrill, Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Vincent Solomeno, Senator Andy Kim, and Congressman Herb Conaway gave their remarks and reminded guests on the meaning and importance of Memorial Day.

Each year, we hold this observance at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery to honor and remember the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice. This cemetery serves as the final resting place for more veterans than any other state cemetery in the United States, so there is not a more fitting place to gather.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended despite the weather to recognize this day of solemn reflection and remembrance. Thank you for joining us in honoring veterans and in remembering those still missing in action. For more photos of the ceremony, please click here.
