Veterans Haven South Pavilion Dedication
On July 8, Veterans Haven South held a special ceremony to commemorate their new pavilion dedicated by the New Jersey State American Legion. This new structure gives residents a place to come together, celebrate, and build community.
Superintendent Tori Hill led the ceremony, which included remarks from Commissioner Vincent Solomeno; Charles "Andy" Jackson, former American Legion Commander; Eugene O'Grady, American Legion National Executive Committeeman; Charline Gladden, President of the American Legion Auxiliary; and former Sons of the American Legion Detachment Commander Rich Hodum. In his remarks, Commissioner Solomeno acknowledged everyone involved in the project for their hard work and emphasized the importance of this space for the residents at Veterans Haven South.
During the ceremony, Commissioner Solomeno presented Charline Gladden with the New Jersey Civilian Commendation Medal for her service to New Jersey Veterans as President of the American Legion Auxiliary. The event concluded with a performance of "America the Beautiful" by a Veterans Haven South resident, as well as a benediction. For more photos of the ceremony, please click here.
