Governor Sherrill Leads State Commemoration of September 11, 2001

25th Anniversary of 9/11 Honored at Empty Sky Memorial

On September 10, Governor Mikie Sherrill led a ceremony in observance of the 25th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony was held at the Empty Sky Memorial at the Liberty State Park in Jersey City, which honors the 750 people who lived in or had ties to New Jersey who lost their lives on 9/11. 

In attendance were Governor Mikie Sherrill, Deputy Commmissioner of Veterans Affairs Esther Chucharalao, Senator Raj Mukherji, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection Ed Potosnak, Jersey City Mayor James Solomon, as well as other government officials and community members.

During the ceremony, State Park Police Chief George Fedorczyk, along with Governor Mikie Sherrill, officially retired New Jersey State Park Police Badge No. 911 in acknowledgement of the date that changed our country's history forever.
