A Solemn 9/11 Remembrance in Long Branch
Long Branch Honors Lives Lost on 9/11
Commissioner Vincent Solomeno served as the keynote speaker at the Legislative District 11 and City of Long Branch’s ceremony honoring the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on September 11, 2001.
Commissioner Solomeno joined U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-6), Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywomen Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul, Long Branch Mayor John Pallone, and others at the Long Branch Municipal Building to commemorate the solemn occasion. In his remarks, Commissioner Solomeno reflected on the heroism shown by first responders on September 11th, as well as the unity among Americans in the days following.
"On September 12, 2001, our country was united,” said Solomeno. “It didn't matter who we worshiped or how we worshiped or who we loved or what the color of our skin was, but that we were Americans, united in the belief that we should stand together.”
The event concluded with a tribute to the 147 Monmouth County residents who lost their lives on that fateful day, with each name listed on a projector screen and read out loud. May we never forget that day and always remember those we lost.
