Application for State School Aid
The Application for State School Aid (ASSA) is the annual data collection that gathers the resident and nonresident pupil counts required in calculating a school district’s state aid entitlement, as defined in N.J.S.A.18A:7F-33. For a school district to receive state aid for a pupil, the student must be enrolled on the last school day prior to October 16 of the current school year.
The ASSA User Manual and Workpapers are guidance documents providing detailed instructions on reporting student enrollment, the data entry and edit process, and certifying the submission through the online application. The ASSA Basics PowerPoint (PPTX) provides an overview of the sections to the application.
Access the ASSA data collection each fall through the NJDOE Homeroom webpage.
