Learning Partnerships with Early Elementary Families
The state of New Jersey sets developmentally appropriate learning standards for what every student will know and be able to do when they complete each grade level. These resources are designed to help families understand those standards and partner with teachers to support their child’s learning during kindergarten to third grade.

English Language Arts (ELA)
ELA combines instruction in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and effective language use to build literacy. Early literacy skills are foundational in kindergarten to third grade instruction. These example communications are for teachers to share with families and are intended to support reading and writing at home.
