In accordance with N.J. Stat. § 30:4-27.9a, hospitals and emergency departments in New Jersey are required to submit quarterly reports to the Department of Human Services. These reports provide detailed information on the involuntary detainment of individuals and the continued hold of individuals according to the amended civil commitment statute, including the number of applications for temporary court orders, the number of granted orders, the characteristics of the detained individuals, and the duration of detainments.
At this time, the Department of Health has only handled one (1) application for a temporary bed pursuant to N.J.S.A. 30:4-27.9a. The study pursuant to N.J.S.A. 30:4-27.3a is underway and will be posted here once available.
