Nominator Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be at least 18-years old, a New Jersey resident, and free of criminal convictions and/or pending criminal charges.
- You may nominate one or more individuals or organizations.
Nominee Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a New Jersey resident.
- Must be a victim prosecutor, a member of law enforcement, a victim witness advocate, a state or local government staff member who supports victim services, a victim services organization staff member, a community volunteer, or an organization, agency, program or team that provides services to victims.
- Must not be a previous award recipient; however, candidates nominated in previous years, but not selected, are eligible for consideration.
Submission Guidelines:
- Compose a narrative that states the reasons why you are nominating this individual, organization or team for an award.
- Your nomination should not exceed two single-spaced, one-sided, letter-size (8.5 x11) pages and should be typed using standard 12-point font.
- If you are nominating an organization, agency, program, or team, please provide the name and contact information of the individual who will accept the award on behalf of the group. Please note, only one physical award will be presented.
- Upload supporting documentation (newspaper articles, previous awards, photos, etc.)
- Please submit a headshot (if nominating an individual) or an agency logo (if nominating an organization), as well as a bio of 500 words or less (if nominating an individual) or short history of the agency (if nominating an organization) by March 22, 2019. so that we may publish it in the program.
Narrative Requirements:
- Describe the nominee’s contributions to the victim services’ field that go beyond the individual’s standard job duties and how these contributions improved victims’ lives.
- Explain how the nominee demonstrated compassion, extraordinary effort, commitment, exceptional leadership/teamwork, or how he/she brought about change for victims and/or victims’ justice.
- Identify any unique, innovative or groundbreaking approaches and accomplishments the nominee, organization, program, or team has made to serve and/or improve crime victim services and/or crime victims’ rights.
- Describe the impact the nominee’s work has had on the lives of those affected by violent crimes or the criminal justice system.
- Indicate the total number of years the nominee has assisted victims.
- List two additional persons (victim or colleagues) that can verify your assessment of the nominee.
Note: If your nominee is selected, you will be notified shortly after the closing date.
Award Acceptance Requirements:
- Award recipients should submit a written "thank you" with special acknowledgments (friends, colleagues, etc.) for publication in the event’s annual journal. If an organization is selected, all team members can come to the stage; however, only one written "thank you" may be submitted for publication in the journal.
- Acceptance speech and headshot are due by: April 5, 2019.
