The Division of Land Use Regulation has made it possible to apply for and receive instant approvals for certain Coastal General permits online. The two Coastal General Permits that can be applied for utilizing the Department’s “DEP Online” system are Coastal General Permits 14 and 19.
Coastal General Permit 14 authorizes the reconstruction or replacement of a legally existing, functioning bulkhead. If applying for the Coastal General 14 e-permit, the reconstruction or replacement of the bulkhead must be within the existing bulkhead alignment. The application for proposed bulkhead replacements 18” or 24” waterward of the existing bulkhead must be a paper application, which can be submitted to the Division of Land Use Regulation through the normal application process. The activity proposed for a Coastal General 14 e-permit must comply with the requirements for a Coastal General Permit 14 as per N.J.A.C. 7:7-7.14 of the Coastal Permit Program Rules.
Coastal General Permit 19, authorizes the construction, reconstruction, or replacement of piers, docks, jet ski ramps, pilings, and boat lifts at single family homes or duplexes located along a man-made lagoon. The activity proposed for a Coastal General 19 e-permit must comply with the requirements for a Coastal General Permit 19 as per N.J.A.C. 7:7-7.19 of the Coastal Permit Program Rules.
